In the long term it much safer for your health to lose weight naturally rather than taking medication that threatens your health.
Whether it’s television or computers, at home or at work, modern life has come to revolve around moving from one seated position to another. All the simple calorie burning activities that were normal to our every day routine are long gone.
You know what I’m talking about…activities like using the stairs instead of the elevator, pushing a lawn mower instead of riding a garden tractor, walking to school instead of taking the bus and so on. Along with the reduction in energy expenditure came changes in our diet.
Here are 4 diet tips we all need reminded of from time to time.
- Never eat standing up.
My mom was right: "Sit down and eat your food!". Don’t eat standing up! The easiest way to sabotage our diet is "eating without thinking". The solution is simple: fix a plate, sit down and eat properly. You’re less likely to eat without paying attention.
- Fluids
Drink plain water! That is always the top choice when on a diet. Soda is nothing but empty calories, no nutrients, lots of sugar. The FDA recommends you drink at least 64 ounces of water every day. If you are on a diet you should drink even more. Water doesn’t just help quench your thirst. It helps your body digest foods properly, hydrates you and cleans your system.
- Skip High Fat Foods and Snacks
Stop eating junk food! These kind of foods contribute fat and calories and nothing else. Eat dried fruit or yogurt! For the same amount of calories you get a lot more nutritional benefits.
Eat Breakfast! Most people fail to realize the true value of a morning meal.
Eat slowly! We all are in a hurry, but it is important to listen to our bodies. Eating slowly allows us to recognize when we have eaten enough.
- Yes, You Need Exercise
Take a small part of the day and go for a walk, do aerobics, do yoga, do any type of activity you enjoy. Mix them up so you don’t get bored and soon you will not only get used to it, but you will feel better to.
So, to lose weight you need to give your body what it needs. This means: plenty of water, eat timely and proper meals, stay active, and give your body time to tell you when it is full. Your body will reward you for your attention
